If you live round west London (fancy), you might get a shock the next time you pop out for your morning latte, because Brooklyn Beckham has just got himself a job in a local coffee shop.
Despite parents David and Victoria Beckham having a combined fortune of £165 million, 15-year old Brooklyn is keen to earn an honest wage and has been doing weekend shifts at his neighbourhood cafe, where he is paid a reported £2.68 an hour.
Because he is under the age of 16, minimum wage doesn’t apply, but his hourly rate falls into the lowest category – for an untrained apprentice between the ages of 16 and 18. The rules state that he can’t work for longer than seven hours in a day and must be given an hour’s break in every four.
One of Becks Junior’s new colleagues, who declined to be named, confirmed yesterday that the famous youngster had already worked a few shifts and ‘got on okay’ with the other workers.
Brooklyn was apparently encouraged to take the job by his parents, both of whom built their fortunes from humble beginnings through sheer hard work. And his part-time job has been well received by fans on Twitter.
It may not be the glamorous first step on the job ladder many might have predicted for the well-connected youngster but it certainly beats our paper round.
