• THE RULES – if you are travelling by road in the UK remember a child is legally required to be in a car seat or booster until they are 135cm tall or 12 years old. Check the requirements for other countries before leaving home.
  • BRING SUPPLIES – don’t get caught short in an unfamiliar environment without drinks, snacks, wet-wipes, games and a change of clothes. Think of the weather, will the children need extra sun, rain or insect protection?
  • HOME FROM HOME – Take home comforts such as pillows, blankets and toys that smell familiar to little ones. If you’re planning to use a travel cot like the Dreamliner, let your little one sleep in it before you travel.
  • ROUTINE – Stick to your regular meal and nap time routines as much as possible. Routines are your baby’s way of feeling they have control over their surroundings.
  • KEEP CALM – When travelling with little ones, often the excitement can be mixed with worry about how your baby might react and what might happen. Try to stay relaxed as this will help your baby stay calm. Physical contact and cuddles will also help.
  • ENJOY THE MOMENT – Journeys and holidays will be different to the ones you enjoyed before you became parents, but exploring the world with children will be a really fulfilling experience so have fun and make memories!unnamed
