Katherine Jenkins is pregnant with her first child, a girl.
The opera singer shared her happy news on her Instagram and Twitter pages on Monday, along with a snap of her and husband Andrew Levitas on their wedding day with a pair of baby ballet shoes perched on top.
And in a statement released to MailOnline, she said: ‘We are overjoyed to be expecting our first child in the autumn. Starting a family and moving into this exciting phase of our lives is a blessing for which we are incredibly grateful. We eagerly await the arrival of our little girl!’
‘Couldn’t be more excited to meet our little girl! #MummyToBe #DaddyToBe #ArtProject #Collaboration #Family @andrewlevitas,’ she captioned the lovely picture message shared on her timeline.
Fans were quick to congratulate her on Twitter as she revealed her baby joy.
The Welsh singer, 34, tied the knot with Andrew in September 2014, and has previously spoken at length about how much she wants to start a family.
In November, just two months after tying the knot, the soprano revealed she was already ready to become a mother.
The Welsh singer frankly told the Sunday People: ‘Now I’m married I do want kids.’
She added: ‘I do really want a family. Please God, touch wood, we’ll be lucky and they’ll be fit and healthy. That’s all I care about.’
‘Having kids is on the list of priorities. We’ll see what happens.’
In another interview talking about her dream of becoming a parent, Katherine told Fabulous Magazine that she will make sure any children she has come first, and not her career.
The singer explained that, following the birth of her nephew, she was more broody than ever, and said of her sister Laura: ‘She’s got this natural maternal instinct and I want to experience that myself.
