Leopard Adventure

A Book Review By Millie Rowley aged 10.

The thing that I liked most about this book was the descriptive language used by Anthony McGowan. His writing made me feel like I was actually a part of the story. I particularly enjoyed the way in which he expressed how the characters were feeling, especially when things were tense and dangerous – it really draws you in to the story.

I found myself relating to the character Amazon, a girl of my age. Amazon felt uncomfortable using guns to put animals to sleep, because she had a great love of animals – something that I share in common with her.

Amazon and I also share a certain soft spot for dogs. When she cuddles a big brown dog name Boris it reminds me of when I used to play with my dog Grace – who funnily enough was big and brown too!

As I read this book, I went through many different facial expressions, some sad, some happy and some eager to know what was going to happen next. At the end of the story I was rather shocked at what happened, it was completely different to the way I would have expected it to have been and left me asking questions about what happened to the characters next.

I would recommend this book for boys and girls of ages six plus, who have an interest in exciting adventures and a love of animals. This is one of the best books I have read this year!
