Coronation Street star Simon Gregson has welcomed his third baby with wife Emma Gleave, and says he’s “thrilled”.
The star, who took a break from the show in September due to an illness, shared his happy news on Twitter – describing his newborn son as “beautiful”.
He began by thanking the medical staff, writing: “I can not praise and thank everyone at wythenshawe hospital enough, although unbelievably busy, brilliant and lovely. The best x.”
He later added: “After talking 2 a belly for 9 months, I can now talk to a beautiful little face & know it’s not Mr Hanky. Myself & @emmagleave are thrilled.”
Manchester hospital’s maternity staff quickly replied: “Aww you’re very welcome, have a lovely Christmas with your new little boy! Xxxx”
Simon announced Emma was pregnant earlier this year by posting a photo of the couple on Twitter – with “beer” written on his belly and “baby” scribbled on his wife’s .
Congratulations messages flooded in, and ex-Corrie star Chris Bisson tweeted: “Congratulations guys xxx”
The couple married in 2010 and are already parents to seven-year-old Alfie and five-year-old Harry.
Gregson started his break from the show a couple of months ago following a storyline where his on-screen character battled depression.
It was rumoured the storyline had left Simon drained and with wife Emma expecting their third child he opted to take time off until he was feeling 100% again.
