Heavily-pregnant Coleen Rooney says Wayne is a more ‘confident’ father now and she hopes they’ll still have ‘weekly date nights’ when baby number three arrives

Heavily-pregnant Coleen Rooney hopes she and her husband will still have time for their ‘weekly date nights’ when baby number three arrives.

The 29-year-old, who already has two adorable sons, Kai, six, and two-year-old Klay, with her sports star partner Wayne, is set to welcome her new arrival any day now.

TV personality and fashion designer Coleen revealed she’s always been a ‘maternal’ person but the 30-year-old Manchester United ace has become more ‘confident’ in his parenting abilities as they have extended their young brood.

When asked whether Wayne is a hands-on dad to the boys, Coleen said: ‘When we had Kai it was all new to him, whereas I had more experience through my family.

‘By the time Klay came along he knew how everything worked and was really confident. It’s natural to him now.’

Despite having to juggle fame, a high-profile career and caring for the youngsters, Coleen said motherhood hasn’t changed her. ‘I have always been a maternal person and I come from a big family full of kids so I was always looking after them,’ she said.

‘I am a hands on wife and mother, that’s just part of my personality.’

However, the Liverpudlian admits that managing all these aspects of her life takes a lot of planning.

‘What I would say has changed the most is the spontaneity,’ she said. ‘Wayne often doesn’t know when he is going to have a day off, so before kids we would just go out for a meal or do something together when he found out he had one.

‘Now everything takes much more planning. Overall, though, life hasn’t changed that much.’

Coleen says she and Wayne always try to make time for one another without the children and she hopes this will continue when they welcome the latest addition to their family.

‘Wayne and I also make sure we have a date night once a week – something as simple as going to the cinema, going for something to eat or going to a show,’ she said.

‘We have managed to make that last and I hope to continue to do it when baby number three arrives. It’s important that you give each other the time.’

When the four of them do get to spend precious time together, Coleen’s favourite thing to do is to ‘simply stay in and play’.

Coleen, who has just been announced as the new ambassador for infant toy brand, Lamaze, said she can’t want to bond with her new baby through play.

‘Lamaze toys have been designed with experts to inspire discovery, something that is wonderful to be part of as a parent,’ she said.

‘I have seen my two boys flourish with Lamaze and I am so pleased to be working with the brand in time for the birth of our third child. I am looking forward to sharing special moments with the latest addition to the Rooney family through Lamaze.’

Meanwhile, speaking to OK! magazine back in August 2015, Coleen said her and Wayne have decided to not find out the sex of the baby.

‘Hopefully the anticipation of the sex will make the labour go a bit quicker!’ she said.

‘It’s also exciting for the boys not to know whether they’ll be having a little brother or sister. I’d love a girl because it would complete the family.’
