Simon Cowell doesn’t come across as the most hands-on kind of person.
And the X Factor mogul has admitted this to be true in terms of his baby son Eric, especially when it comes to mucking in.
Speaking to Hello! magazine, the 55-year-old said that he loves being a father, but hasn’t yet got his hands dirty.
He owned up: ‘I still haven’t changed a nappy yet but I love being a dad.’
The doting dad added: ‘Eric makes me laugh. He and I communicate very well because we basically like the same things – Scooby Doo, Disney movies, laughing at the dogs.’
The star – who became a father for the first time last year when his girlfriend Lauren Silverman gave birth to their little boy on Valentine’s Day – has also revealed something somewhat surprising; that he is keen to expand their family.
‘I think if you have one child it would be lovely to have two and, yes, I would like to have a little girl,’ the Britain’s Got Talent star added, as Lauren admitted that they already have a name picked out.
Indeed, Simon seemed like quite an unlikely person to take to fatherhood quite as well as he has: the reformed Mr Nasty previously admitted that he didn’t see himself settling down in a relationship and having kids.
But he has become a truly doting dad, often sharing adorable snaps of himself with his lookalike little boy on Twitter and gushing over him in interviews, showing his softer side.
His most recent picture of himself with his one-year-old pokes fun at himself, joking about his penchant for a simple white shirt.
The picture shows him and Eric both dressed in black trousers, but while Simon is wearing a white shirt, Eric is dressed in a T-shirt.
Tongue firmly in cheek, Simon captioned it: ‘No Eric. I said White shirt not t shirt.’
The music boss has become more relaxed in recent years, swapping his harder and more stern exterior to show his true self, an altogether more sentimental man… one who adores his lady, his son and his adorable dogs.
Simon also recently admitted that he and his partner of two years Lauren, 37, are eager to give Eric a sibling and are ‘seriously’ contemplating adopting their next child.
In an interview with the Daily Star, the TV personality said: ‘I’m beginning to warm to the idea.
‘We do want to have more children of our own but we could adopt as well. I wouldn’t rule out it happening. It’s a good idea.’
