IKOS Oceania – Thessaloniki, Greece,

We are always looking for great family friendly places that really cater to both parents and children. We were delighted to be invited to stay at IKOS Oceania, a 5 star all inclusive luxury resort, set in the beautiful surroundings of Greece.

Sovereign Luxury Travel and Ikos Resorts carefully planned our itinerary for the trip and upon arrival at Gatwick, we were ushered through private security to a private lounge where they had a vast selection of beverages and food. I thought this was ideal for an early start and a great contained area to sit and relax before departure. As the boarding gate was announced, we went through a secret corridor, missing all of the bustle of the airport.

At this point I was already convinced that any future family travel would involve this added element. Anything that takes the stress out of travelling is always well worth paying extra for.

Thessalonki is only a short 3hr flight from London Gatwick and a a great period of time to fly with little ones. The Greek airport is a standard size and once we had collected our baggage, we were met with a warm reception by IKOS staff. The transfer bus is available to all people who are arriving at the resort if you notify them prior to arrival.

The transfer bus was really comfortable and after a short 20 minute drive, we had arrived at the stunning IKOS OCEANIA. From the outside it looks like a grand palace. On first glance you notice how clean and well maintained everything looks and how the staff genuinely look happy to see you.

The hotel has gorgeous decor and as soon as you walk in, you are struck by the breathtaking sea views and the happy people that are walking around.

After a lovely glass of Champagne we checked into our Deluxe Collection room. The hotel Golf Carts are on hand to pick you up and take you around the resort if you need any help or are just too hot to walk.

In room facilities at IKOS Oceania are excellent; with fast wifi, 42 plasma screens including Satellite and a balcony overlooking the sea, it is the ideal place to stay.

The bathroom is well equipped with a large bath and power shower. The hotel is conscious of the environment and you are able to reuse your towels if you wish. Luxury Anne Semonin amenities are also provided in each bathroom.

A Nespresso® coffee machine with plenty of coffee capsules are provided with glasses along with fresh water and 24 Room Service is available with in room mini bars restocked daily at no extra charge. All of the drinks in room and at the hotel bars are of the highest quality. Grey Goose Vodka, Whiskey and pretty much any request is catered for. An unlimited supply of Diet Coke made me very happy.

The fact that you a wide selection of room service food is available 24 hours a day is ideal if you have a family and don’t want to stick to set meals time. It really takes the pressure off and allows you to enjoy your holiday at your own leisure.

We ate at each of the restaurants on site and can’t recommend them highly enough. Every meal we had was truly outstanding and the vast selection of foods ensures that even the fussiest of eaters will not go hungry.

There are a vast selection of swimming pools to choose from including a private pool for those staying in Luxury accommodation and a separate children’s pool for families.

If you walk along the path way, you come to the 350m long sandy beach which is exclusively available to Ikos Oceania guests. Sun beds are complimentary and staff are on hand to take your drinks and snacks orders. Looking out over the ocean and taking in the fresh sea air, it is like a piece of heaven and exactly what a holiday should be.

The attention to detail such as the fresh fruit bowl with a welcome note that was in the room ready for my arrival and the mini chocolates that were placed on my pillows before bedtime were really appreciated. Everything is maintained to such a high standard and this results in happy guests.

I spoke to a number of people who were enjoying their holiday and many were returning visitors. They loved the setting of the hotel, the staff and the overall inclusive experience at IKOS.

We were all sad to leave IKOS and are looking forward to returning in the future. If you are looking for a luxurious family holiday that caters to your every need, then IKOS ticks all of the boxes. It goes beyond an all inclusive resort, it is pure luxury at it’s finest.

Sovereign (01293 731566, ), the luxury specialist, has a week at Ikos Oceania from £859 per person on an all-inclusive basis.  The price includes return flights from London Gatwick to Thessaloniki with easyjet and private resort transfers.  All Sovereign customers also benefit from complimentary lounge access at No 1 Traveller Gatwick and the premium security lane, as well as a private cocktail on the beach and a farewell gift.
