Name and age of baby:

Freya, seven months old.

Where did you test the pushchair?

We put the Nuna Mixx to test on the pavements of local towns, gravel paths and grass/park areas of Warwickshire.

First Impressions:

Once we unboxed everything, my first impressions were really good. The Nuna Mixx looked stylish; a timeless classic with it being Black and Tan. It’s quite sleek too, it looks sturdy but not clumpy and heavy! It was easy to assemble and didn’t take too long to do – before long we had a great-looking pushchair set up.

We also set the carry cot up too which took a little longer but once it was complete you could feel that it was solid – and would keep your little one safe and sound!

How easy is it to push and use?

We used the Nuna Mixx on a variety of terrains and it pushes really well across the board.

On pavements, light gravel paths and country lanes it is excellent and doesn’t feel heavy. I was able to push it one-handed when required. Going up and down kerbs is really easy too.

It does push on grass but perhaps not as easily, however, it is still quite capable!

When using the carrycot and therefore Freya was lying flat, she was completely content being pushed. We achieved naps on the go because it glides around with such ease! We also used the Nuna Pipa Lite LX car seat on the pushchair for brief outings and pushing is really easy because the car seat is true to its name and so light!

What is the seat unit like?

The seat unit clicks on and off in a really easy-to-use manner – meaning you can swap between the seat unit, carrycot and the infant carrier with real ease.

The seat unit can be parent-facing or world-facing, it is set at a really good height so I felt I wasn’t bending down too much – it just feels really comfortable to use (for both baby and I!), and it is even changeable depending on the season/weather. The cosy insert is padded for the cooler months, whilst the mesh panels are great for warm summer days.

The one-handed recline is really easy to adjust, ranging from a relaxing lie-flat to a nice sitting upright position, with five options overall.

One of my favourite things about the seat unit is the adjustable calf support which I keep in place as it becomes an extension of the seat unit essentially – so when Freya sleeps on the go she has this extra space.

Nuna includes the apron as standard which is a real positive, this is secured in place with two poppers and can be taken on/off whilst your little one is using the pushchair.

How easy is it to fold and carry?

The Nuna Mixx has a straightforward fold and unfold. A simple sliding function on either side of the chassis releases the lock and it then collapses down neatly. Once folded, you can lift the pushchair in and out of your car, but you wouldn’t carry it as such.

How compact is it when folded?

For a good sized pushchair, I think the folded size is pretty good – particularly when it’s just the chassis (if you have been using it with the car seat or carry cot for instance). You can fold it with the seat unit intact and it still fits in the boot of our car.

Is the handle height-adjustable?

Yes, and I found the choice of handle height to be quite broad, which is fantastic. My husband and I use different settings for the handle height so we change frequently- luckily it is easily done in two swift seconds!

What is the harness like?

The Nuna Mixx has a 5-point harness, which is great at keeping your little one safe and secure. I found it easier to secure it one side at a time, rather than trying to lock all elements of it in one to.

What is the hood like? Is it extendable?

The hood was one of my favourite parts, it provides good coverage and has a fold-away additional extension at the very front to provide additional shade when needed (all UPF 50+). It has a central extension which zips open – this provides huge coverage and the side panels of this section is breathable mesh. At the back, there is a peekaboo window so when you have the seat unit world-facing, you can view your little one on the go.

What did you think of the wheels? Are they swivel?

The rear wheels are a really good size and I think these help with the variety of terrains it is suitable for. The front wheels can swivel or you have the choice to lock them in place which we preferred.

The all-wheel suspension provides a smooth ride and the Nuna Mixx feels well-supported and maneuvers well.

When we covered muddy/recently rained-on ground, we did find that the front two wheels can get clogged up between the wheel itself and the housing which secures turn-in place. This isn’t too much of a problem as it really only occurred after a lot of walks and when the weather was really awful.

The wheels are removed with one click each meaning we were able to take them off and give them a good wash after covering muddy terrain and removing the debris that had built up. This resolves the aforementioned problem and the wheels come up brand new!

Is the basket easy to reach and does it have enough storage space?

The storage basket is a good size and we used it with every outing – it is big enough for our changing bag which was the essential point for us.

It is easier to access from the front of the pushchair – it is a bigger opening on this side as opposed to the back but this is a minor niggle.

When using the carrycot or car seat on the chassis, the basket has even easier access!

How easy are the brakes to use?

There is a single brake in the middle of the rear wheels which is easy to access, is colour coded red/green and is flip-flop friendly. We didn’t encounter any issues with it and it feels like the pushchair is securely locked down when the brakes are on.

What we love:

We love the small details in the design; both functionality and ascetically. From the mesh panels for air ventilation to the tan leather touches, giving it a premium feel. The covers are machine washable which we imagine is invaluable when using with a toddler (eating and drinking on the go!). We also love the lie-flat function and extendable calf rest for snoozing on the go.

We also love how easy it is to change between the three elements of a travel system. The seat unit and carry cot don’t require adaptors so they slot on and off the chassis with total ease (and the carrycot can be used up to nine months so at Freya’s current age/weight we found using both to be beneficial for different outings).

What could be improved:

The only real problem that could be improved is the debris that builds up on the front wheels, but I’m nit-picking!

Would you recommend it to a friend and is it worth the money?

Without doubt, I would recommend the Nuna Mixx. It ticks so many of the boxes that it has to be one if the best pushchairs/travel systems available.
