LBP Book Club – July

We have a real love for books in our household. Eva loves visiting our local Waterstones and choosing a new story and I love snuggling up with her at bedtime, watching her little face change with every page of the story. Here are our favorites this month:

This book pleases Eva every time we read it. It is a great introduction to colours for smaller children. Each page has a different colour layout and a pop up animal that pops up. A really bright and colourful story.

I read this story to my 3 year old and 7 year old. Both thoroughly enjoyed it and giggled their way through it. Princess Smartypants doesn’t want to get married–she’d rather live with her pets and do exactly as she pleases. When all the princes want her to be their wife, Princess Smartypants has to think up some clever ways of dealing with unwanted suitors and she does, much to the readers amusement.

We loved the Scooter Bee story and were delighted to find, ‘Scooter Bug’. The story is simple, well illustrated and Eva loved it. A superhero on a scooter whom they can relate to.

We are great fans of Julia Donaldson and absolutely loved ‘The Singing Mermaid’. With glittery pages and beautiful rhyme, it was a pleasure to read over and over again. The Singing Mermaid agrees to go with the Circus Master to sing at his shows but all is not as it seems and soon she longs to return to the sea. The magic of Julia Donaldson, has had Eva searching for Mermaids everytime we go to the beach.
