Since the December birth of their daughter, Ryan Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively have kept the name of their first offspring under tight wraps.
But Hollywood heart-throb Ryan, 38, who tied the knot with 27-year-old actress Blake in 2012, has finally revealed that the newborn’s chosen moniker is James.
During an appearance on the Today Show on Friday, he joked: ‘It is Butternut Summersquash. No, it’s out there! It’s out there. It’s James. Everyone knows and I told everyone who would listen that.’
Indeed, it had been circulated – though not confirmed – that the couple had given their daughter the name, shortly after it was rumoured to be Violet.
‘My mom liked to infuse my life with a lot of magic,’ she said. ‘When she read my fortune cookies, the predictions were full of princesses and castles and jewels and pirates.
‘When I got old enough to read them, I was shocked to find out how boring they really were!’
The Gossip Girl star also revealed that she keeps busy when she needs to de-stress, by ‘creating something I can use’.
‘I’ll knit or cook – or work on a motorcycle, a skill my husband is teaching me. One of my latest projects was painting nature-inspired throw pillows,’ she said.
Blake who has restyled herself as a lifestyle blogger since her marriage, also revealed her recipe for the perfect fudge sundae.
‘Forget the fake syrupy stuff,’ she said. ‘Melt down a bar of chocolate, mix it into some warmed up whipping cream, and put it on top of ice cream. Add some sprinkles, and you’ve got a delicious treat.’
