Steven Gerrard and his wife Alex have just welcomed their first baby boy.
The happy parents got married in 2007 and are already parents to three girls, 13-year-old Lilly Ella, Lexie, 10 and Lourdes, five.
The footballer, 36, took to Instagram to confirm the pair had welcomed their first little boy called Lio George on Saturday morning, thought to be named after sports star Lionel Messi.
The Liverpool star gushed to his 5.9 million followers about his wife, 34, and their newborn: ‘Both are doing great . Our family is complete.’
The sportsman wrote proudly beside the image: ‘Lio George Gerrard was born this morning at 4.55am . Both are doing great . Our family is complete’, followed by a love-heart emoji.
Alex had previously admitted that her husband had been hoping for a boy after his daughters, revealing: ‘I know Steven has said before he would like one, but the chances of us having one is slim with having three girls.
‘He laughs and says he can’t risk it – it’s going to cost him a fortune in weddings if we have another girl!’
The new arrival comes four years after Alex confessed she was waiting a little longer to add to their family, because the thought of another baby ‘scared’ her.
She told OK! of the prospect of a fourth child in 2013: ‘Not at the moment. Lourdes is getting more independent now, so the thought of another scares me.
Meanwhile Steven announced his retirement from professional football on November 24 after spending the last two seasons of his career with LA Galaxy in the United States.
