Name and age of baby:

Twins, 10 months old (Ocean-Blue & Orlando-Storm).

Where did you test the pushchair?

We tested the Out ‘N’ About Double Nipper in Thorpe St Andrew, Norwich and many other places nearby.

First Impressions:

I think it’s a fantastic buggy for those who like walking/running or going long distances, as it can handle any kind of terrain and manages the bumps and lumps on the paths. It’s amazing off-road, on the beach or out in the woods.

How easy is it to push and use?

The buggy is so lightweight even with the boys in it. It’s got suspension so any bumps or lumps on the path or in the woods it handles it well and I don’t have to do much

It’s good to manoeuvre around shops etc

I can push the buggy one handed no problem as it’s so light, when I have jogged with the buggy I use one hand to push

What is the seat unit like?

It’s fantastic, the boys love it, the reason I bought this is so that the boys could be side by side and interact with each other which is what they have been doing recently now they’re getting older and can pull themselves forward with the bumper bar, which is really lovely . They can both see what’s going on

The seat can be adjusted so the boys are full reclined if they fall asleep or they can be sat in different positions depending on how tight I put the draw strings

How easy is it to fold and carry?

You have to do it with some force and use both hands, but it’s manageable and easy enough to fold although despite being quite heavy once it’s folded, what with it being a double pushchair.

How compact is it when folded?

Not as compact as some strollers which you can take apart but manageable. I sometimes have problems with space if I have luggage in the boot though.

Is the handle height-adjustable?

It’s not adjustable as such – it can change position, but not adjustable in height

What is the harness like?

It’s good, you have to adjust it with the pull strings like a lot of other buggies, but in general it’s really easy to clip and unclip your baby.

What is the hood like? Is it extendable?

The hood is great, but sometimes I feel I need an extra part of the sun canopy to ensure the boys are completely shaded from the sun and I have to put their blanket over them.

What did you think of the wheels? Are they swivel?

Due to this buggy being an ‘off road’ kind of buggy, the wheels have to be pumped up before use. They are also filled with some kind of puncture protection – so you have to be careful of getting punctures, although I’d say this is rare!

The front wheels swivel but the back ones don’t, which makes it hard to sometimes get the position right if you’re sitting on the side and need to feed them in the buggy but in general it’s okay for day-to-day use.

Being able to turn off the swivel on the front wheel is very handy. The wheels themselves are fab. They can handle anything; mud, bumps and sand!

It’s nice and easy to bump up and down kerbs, but if you do hit something the Double Nipper handles it well due to the suspension and type of wheel type.

Is the basket easy to reach and does it have enough storage space?

The basket is good but it’s very small, so I can’t fit a lot of stuff in there if I’ve gone to do a big shop.

I think it’s worth mentioning that the double basket doesn't come with the pushchair. It’s a separate purchase and costs £38 on the Out ‘n’ About website.

How easy are the brakes to use?

Fantastic, much better than my previous stroller. You just press down with your foot on the bottom of the frame of the buggy. To do the opposite just do the same again.

What we love:

I love this buggy because it isn’t too expensive, it’s versatile and hard wearing and can be used from birth to 4/5 years old. You can go quite literally anywhere, the Nipper doesn’t hold you back!

I love the zips on the hood where I can put my phone and my keys if I’m just going for a walk and I don’t take a bag, very thoughtful!

There are Velcro flaps that you can put back when the hood is erected so you can see your baby easily – I love looking down and seeing Ocean and Orlando look back up at me!

I love the handle it’s padded nicely with a foam type of material and I never get sore, neither do my hands ache from gripping the buggy if I’ve been for a long walk.

The bumper bar that is in front of the boys can be unclipped on both sides and taken off completely. I often unclip one side when I am getting one of the boys out so it’s easier.

The Double Nipper is a lovely side-by-side buggy for my twins to be able to interact with each other.

It’s very easy to assemble once taken out of the box – you just have to unfold the buggy, put the tyres on (once you’ve had them pumped up etc), apply the seat covers and put on the bumper bar.

It also has a strap you can put around your wrist when you’re going downhill for extra reassurance.

What could be improved:

Under buggy storage could be improved and not come as an extra you have to pay for.

The way you make adjustments to seating positions at the back can be difficult when the baby is in the seat.

When my twin sons lean towards each other so when they’re sitting in the upright position, the part where the canopy is in the middle of the pushchair can sometimes dig into their heads.

It is very big when folded and I have struggled getting it into other boots in the past, which is certainly worth bearing in mind.

Would you recommend it to a friend and is it worth the money?

Yes, absolutely. The Double Nipper is 100% great value for money. If I had a singleton I would buy this including the carrycot as I know this would last me until around 4 years old and it would cost me half the price of a travel system stroller.

RRP: £449 (including rain cover).
